One of Victoria’s most popular outdoor farmers’ markets, the Sidney Street Market, has returned!
This year, it runs until October 10th and is open every Sunday from 11:00 am until 3:00 pm.
However, unlike previous years, the market has taken up residence somewhere other than Beacon Avenue (it was going to be too difficult to control crowds at this location).
Instead, the Sidney Street Market is taking place in the parking lot area of the Mary Winspear Centre in Sidney. It is being presented by Westcoast Impressions, who have managed the market for the past 8 years.
The 2021 edition of the market features a wide range of vendors, with vendors changing each week. However, as always, the Sidney Street Market is a “make it, bake it, or grow it” style farmers’ market, meaning everything for sale has been homebaked, homemade, or homegrown.
You can expect to find everything from baked goods, beverages, and hot food to fresh produce, soap, candles, clothing, and jewellery.
Farmers and growers in attendance include Gobind Farms, Snowden House Farm, and Ultimate Microgreens. Meanwhile other popular vendors include Cordova Bay Candles, Julie’s Delights Chocolates, Saltspring Wild Cider, Tamales Don Carlos, Abiete Reusable Products, Pickle and Ponder, and much more.
It is a great place to do your weekly grocery shopping or even find specialty items like gourmet treats, artwork, and gifts.
To ensure everyone’s safety, masks are required at the Sidney Street Market, hand sanitizing stations have been set up at the entrance and exit to the market, and the managers ask that all patrons maintain a distance of six feet between one another.
If you’re visiting Victoria this summer or fall, then you have to plan a visit up north to the Sidney Street Market. And if you’re in need of a place to stay during your trip to Victoria, we’d love to host you at the Best Western Carlton Plaza Hotel.
