Greater Victoria has been named by Conde Nast Traveler as one of the friendliest cities in the world for the first time.
Conde Nast Traveler is a luxury and lifestyle travel magazine with publications on multiple platforms and a worldwide circulation.
“To be named as one of the friendliest cities in the world by an influential travel publication like Conde Nast Traveler is truly an honour,” said Paul Nursey, president and CEO of Tourism Victoria.
“Residents of Greater Victoria should be proud visitors to our region view us as hospitable hosts, making an effort to create a warm and welcoming environment for people from all over the world.”
Greater Victoria is described by Conde Nast Traveler as “a stately city with a mild climate, manicured gardens, and world-class museums.” The article goes on to say readers spoke positively of the cleanliness of the city and the polite residents.
This is the latest recognition of Greater Victoria as premier travel and tourism destination. In October 2017, Conde Nast Traveler named Greater Victoria second in its Readers’ Choice Awards list of top 20 small cities outside the United States. In August 2017, Smart Meetings magazine named Greater Victoria as one of the top ten emerging destinations for hosting meetings and conferences.
The Conde Nast Traveler friendliest cities in the world list also includes famous destinations such as Cork and Galway in Ireland, as well as Adelaide, Australia and San Miguel de Allende, Mexico.
