The holidays may have passed, but that doesn’t mean that January can’t be a fun time of the year. And especially so in Victoria, where there’ll be a whole host of events taking place in the post-Christmas period. Coming up we have performances on the stage, a celebration of other cultures, and a night of guitar heaven for the music lovers. On the stage

If you’re a fan of the ballet, then make sure you’re checking out the Ballet West performance, which will taking place on February 1 and 2 at the Royal Theatre. The show will include performances of three pieces; Sweet and Bitter Africa Guzmán, two famous duets from Black Swan, and Fox on the Doorstep.

Celebrating other cultures

The Lunar New Year is a big deal in Asian cultures, but you don’t have to hop on a plane to experience the celebrations. On January 26, Oak Bay High School Dave Dunnet Theatre will be hosting of Asian arts, music, and dance. Head down to enjoy the event - all the money raised will be going towards Big Brothers and Big Sister of Victoria.

Music fun

Head down to the Farquhar at UVic on January 27 for a night of international musical prowess, as Italian Luca Stricagnoli and a handful of other international guitar players take to the stage for International Guitar Night.
