Let Your Inner Child Go Wild at Victoria’s Royal BC Museum This Summer

From sleepaway camps to sipping Egyptian-themed beer, grown-ups can get their fair share of fun at Victoria’s Royal BC Museum this summer!
 
The museum’s super-popular ‘Night at the Museum’ on September 1 will be a grown-ups-only Egyptian-themed adventure. Pack your sleeping bag and your favourite teddy and get ready for a night of food, entertainment and Ancient Egypt-themed activities.
 
Keeping on the Egyptian theme, be sure to pick up a bottle Swans Brewery’s ‘Pharaoh’s Reserve’ beer, which has been crafted in partnership with the museum to mark its ‘Egypt: The Time of the Pharaohs’ exhibition. Accented with grains of paradise, coriander and chamomile, this refreshing brew is fermented with lager yeast and brewed at a warmer temperature to simulate the pre-technology process.
 
Long summer evenings mean more time to enjoy the museum’s Food Truck Festival in the courtyard. Running until August 31, there will be a fabulous selection of trucks on site, including Rolling Reef and Deadbeetz.
 
You also don’t want to miss visiting the museum’s outdoor upper plaza, where Tsawout artists Tom and Perry LaFortune will be carving a totem pole. Access to the carving station is completely free and the LaFortune brothers are happy to discuss their work and provide interpretation.
 
And for those grown-ups who don’t want to go to bed early, there are late night opening hours each Friday and Saturday throughout the summer. The galleries will be open until 10 pm, which means that will you’re your inner child plenty of time to explore the museum late into the night.
