Ah, you simply have to love summer. The weather is fine, the days are long, and there’s just event after event after event -- or at least, that’s the case if you’re visiting Victoria. The city is always enjoyable to visit, but it does have an additional spring in its already strong step during the summer season! Just take a look at some of the events that await locals and tourists alike during August: we have outdoor movie screenings, a big art festival, and a special performance of one of the most popular musicals of recent times.

Movies in the outdoors

You can make the most of those warm summer evenings by attending the Free-B Film event, which will be taking place on various dates throughout August. This a free screening of films we all know and love, such as Hook, Jurassic Park, and Harry Potter. It’ll take place at Beacon Hill Park, so make sure you grab the family and head down.

Victoria performances

The ever-popular Victoria Fringe Theatre Festival will be returning to the city for the 33rd year in August. Taking place over twelve days from August 21 - September 1, there’ll be performances in a wide range of mediums at various venues throughout the city. It’s a big deal, and the standards are high, so don’t miss it.

On the stage

If you’re a fan of Mamma Mia!, then make sure you’re getting down to the Chemainus Theatre, where there will be performances running until August 31. It’s bags of fun1

Once all the fun is done for the day, you’ll want to rest well for the following day at the best hotel in Victoria. At the Best Western Carlton Plaza Hotel, you’ll have excellent accommodations in an enviable Victoria location and also benefit from amenities that include an onsite restaurant, fitness centre, and complimentary high-speed internet.
