Springtime might provide plenty of opportunities to get outside and into nature, but let’s not forget that Victoria is a highly cultural city, with plenty of performances and shows to enjoy, no matter what time of year it is. If you’re taking a trip to Vancouver Island in March or April, your visit may coincide with any number of events. Below, we take a look at three shows for the stage that’ll be taking place over the next couple of months.

The next big talent

Love performing arts, and want to see the next big talent perform on the stage? Then don’t miss the Greater Victoria Performing Arts Festival, which will be taking place at various venues across the city on selected dates between April 3 and May 10. There’ll be dance shows, musical performances, big band shows, and much more.

An evening of Bach

Ah, Bach. You know music must be good if it’s as relevant today as it was several centuries ago! On April 20, you’ll have the chance to enjoy a huge performance of his St. Matthew Passion, which will be brought to life by two choirs and two orchestras. It’ll be an immersive, powerful experience -- the perfect way to enjoy all the riches of spring. Takes place at the Farquhar at UVic.

Mozart’s last opera

And if that wasn’t enough culture, on March 29 and 30 you’ll be able to see a performance of The Magical Flute, which was Mozart’s final opera. It’ll be taking place at the Metro Theatre.
