Victoria is home to a vibrant culinary scene, with a huge variety of restaurants offering a rich and diverse array of cuisines. There’s no shortage of options for places to eat while in the British Columbia capital—and now’s more important than ever to support our local businesses. Lots of places are open for dine-in service with safety regulations in place, or available for take out. Whether you’re looking for dining on the finer side of things or a quick fish and chips to gobble down by the sea, there’s something to suit your fancy. Read on for our three best Victoria restaurants!

Il Terrazzo Ristorante

A landmark of Victoria for nearly 30 years, Il Terrazzo is the place to go for fine Italian dining. The ristorante exudes an old-world kind of ambiance with its courtyard setting, brick fireplaces, and candle lit tables. Enjoy classics like the Insalata Caprese with Buffalo mozzarella and vine-ripened tomatoes, a beautiful selection of antipasti and freshly baked pizza, and pastas like the Capesante—linguine noodles tossed with seared scallops, pancetta, leeks, and cream.

Red Fish Blue Fish

Order takeout from Victoria’s favourite casual seafood joint. Red Fish Blue Fish started out humbly as a seafood shack on the water, with dishes so delicious it quickly became one of the city’s most beloved eateries—with features on Lonely Planet and On Food Network Canada’s Eat Street to boot. Find seafood chowder, fish sandwiches, fish and chips, and tacones—hand-rolled tacos—all sustainably sourced and Ocean Wise certified.

The Tapa Bar Restaurant

Savour Spanish tapas like halibut ceviche and coconut lime mussels on this gorgeous heated patio located in the historic and ever-so-cool Trounce Alley, just off Government Street. Their menu is diverse and well-rounded and includes vegan options—grilled kale marinated in coconut milk and the vegetarian Cubanette, which consists of grilled portobello mushroom, avocado, beans and salsa fresca on focaccia or rice—as well as an impressive selection of both BC and Spanish wine.
